Welcome
Sociable and competitive running in the city of Leicester.
West End Runners is a community based, city centre club for adult runners of a range of abilities, experience, background and age. The club is 21 years old (2005). Members include those who race competitively and others who run for fitness.
The club aims to:- promote a good community spirit
- provide advice, support, encouragement and opportunities to members to develop their full running potential, whatever that may be, and
- offer a social context for the sport of running.
- Meeting on Wednesdays at Leicester Rowing Club on Upperton Road, Leicester at 7.15 for 7:30pm run. At least four groups go out doing a variety of sessions including speed, hills, interval, tempo and distance. Early in the year there is usually a London Marathon group doing distance runs and a group for people new to running.
- Entering road, cross country and fell races - both winter and summer Leicester Road Running League and Derby Runner cross country as well as one-off races.
- Arranging informal off road running near Bradgate Park on Sundays
- Organising social events including the annual presentation evening, the Christmas Meal, pre-London Marathon meal, skittles evenings and presentations/socials with other clubs.

9/3/08. Create West End 8 web page based upon last year. Fail to access new secondary web site which is to be West End Race site to make room on the main sight. Find out can update website from any account rather than dialling in to Tiscali.
18/2/08. Update ROTM, newsletters, venues. Add Welsh Dragon Back 2006 link from web page to newsletter. New web page (prizes), 'What Could I Win' includes past club award winners.

17/11/07. Update events, ROTM. Alter beginners group from 3-4 miles/40-50 minutes to 5 mile minimum. No beginners course in 2008, but leave in contact us against it. Update Names to Faces (leaver's to past page).
